About I Am Me

I Am Me Scotland is a multi-award winning charity that has been working with over 10,000 children and young people per year, before moving to an interactive online education package, designed with, and for, children and young people.

The new online platform hosts a suite of health and wellbeing resources, such as Disability Awareness, Children’s Rights, Alcohol & Substance awareness, mental health and hate crime.

#MakeaDifference is a library of early years and primary school resources that have been designed and developed with children and young people to raise awareness of disabilities and to discuss the impact and consequences of bullying. The programme is tailored for each year group, from nursery to Primary 7, with bespoke lessons and accompanying films. The #MakeaDifference programme has now been developed into an online learning programme for schools to use independently. These resources can be used when required, with the option of an enhanced package offering a bespoke lesson to be created and branded for individual schools.

UNCRC consists of 2 resources for primary aged children. The resources are narrated by children and have been designed to educate children about their rights as a child living in Scotland.

Alcohol & Substance programme has been designed and developed with Police Scotland, Renfrewshire’s Children Services, HSCP, NHS, Children, Young People and people who have direct experience of drug and alcohol use, addiction and recovery. The resources have been designed from nursery stage to S5 and include a suite of videos, animations, Q&A’s, resources and activities. A total of 896 people helped with the design, development and testing of the resources.

You Judge is an interactive resource designed with Police Scotland and COPFS. The resource highlights 5 hate incidents, the police response, criminal justice process, victim and offender impact. The resource has been designed for secondary aged pupils and is interactive to encourage peer to peer discussion.

I Am Me is a suite of educational and training resources for high school and adult audiences. The award winning I Am Me film showcases the story of a young man Charlie, who has Autism and a Learning Disability. Charlie successfully settles into independent living and begins a new job. Charlie is feeling settled….. until the abuse starts. This begins as what is often referred to as “low level anti social behaviour” and quickly escalates into Hate Crime. The story is based on real life experiences and helps audiences to understand the importance of looking out for people in their community and the need to report any concerns to authorities. The film has an accompanying training pack which is used in organisations across Scotland, including Police Scotland new recruit training and Polmont Young Offenders institute.

There are also mental health and disability awareness videos and lessons that have been developed with people who have direct experience.
